The Grove Arcade is located in downtown Asheville. It is a treasure. There are all different types of shops and restaurants. Carmel's is a wonderful restaurant where you can choose to eat inside or outdoors, like the cafes in Paris.
Around the Grove Arcade, there are other establishments unique to Asheville. Independent bookstores, antique stores and many locally own and operated stores which give Asheville it's unique, quirky flavor.
First, the Biltmore Estate and Antler Village are a must see at least once. However, don't get sucked in to buying a membership unless you plan to go alone on future visits. I recently had out of state guest who have already visited the estate. We wanted to shop Antler Village and have a nice dinner. However, my guest were not allowed to enter without a ticket purchase.
