You know Texans love their barbecue! Lucky for us but not my waistline, we are 6.8 miles away from the word famous Salt Lick! A great family restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating, a winery and of course live music. You can literally smell the the barbecue for miles. Even vegetarians got to say yum! If you prefer, you can bring your own cooler stocked with your favorite beverage. You wont be disappointed!

Expect a wait but worth it! Great to visit on good weather days with plenty of outdoor seating!

Great Texas Hill Country BBQ and great ambience. On weekends they have live music as well. It's a great place to visit after touring some of the wineries in the area including their own.

The original Salt Lick BBQ is just 10 miles west on FM 967. Bring your appetite and cash (no credit cards accepted).

The Salt Lick has really solid BBQ and an iconic hill country setting. Even when it looks really crowded, they get you seated quickly. There's usually live music on the outdoor patio. BYOB, cash only

Brand new winery - Food is average but is a local tradition. Go for the winery too!!

If you like BBQ, this is an Austin tradition. There is usually a wait, so plan on relaxing and enjoying the scenery for a bit. There is a wine tasting room on the property as well as a place for kids to run around and play. It is cash only and BYOB.

Good food. Great atmosphere. Bring your own booze. Music on weekends. Cash only but you can eat as much as your belly will hold for a very reasonable fee.

The barbecue was excellent although the ribs needed a little bit more time on the grill. I would eat there again.

Good barbecue and way more comfortable than waiting in line under the sun at a BBQ truck, but my brisket was a tad (just a tad) dry. I would definitely try this place again, as it's a lovely visit. There's a wine and beer shop on the other side where you can get something for your meal.

Great service and lots of parking. Good for groups and kids!

Salt Lick BBQ is an understatement. By the time we left I was in sodium overload. Plan on waiting as the wait can be up to 2 hrs if you don't come at the right time. You can bypass this by walking up to their to go order window. Sit outside at a picnic table with friends and your BYOB beverage of choice.

The mustard based sauce was delicious as well as the brisket and ribs. The potato salad was different in a good way and even the coleslaw, which I normally don't like, was good. Adjacent to a vineyard, with the smell of smoked meat in the air, and all the nice outdoor seating you will definitely have an enjoyable time. Just the site of all that meat cooking and being chopped up right there for you to see make your mouth water.

Been here twice! Fun place to be with family and friends! Love this cow, too bad you can't touch it!

Famously known, The Salt Lick is BYOB and has recently added a wine bar as well. They oftentimes have live music. The atmosphere is lively and the scenery is gorgeous. The barbeque is amazing.

One of the highest rated BBQ place in the country! If you can make it out there, def try it!

All you can eat BBQ, live music on certain nights, and a great destination location just outside of Austin. You can't go wrong here, and this is a fantastic spot to bring groups. BYOB!

Great tasting barbeque with friendly staff and good ambience. Will definitely come back here again!

You cannot come to the Hill Country without indulging in some delicious authentic Texas BBQ. This is a family owned establishment and the customer service is always great. The kids will love to see the meat cooking over the huge pit. You can dine inside or outside and don't forget to pack your cooler because its BYOB!

Alexa Martz

you will need a car/cab full of friends to take you on the journey but it is 1000% worth it.

there will be a wait but that is a part of the experience... its byob so bring a cooler/bag/what have you as well as some cards.... while you are waiting to enjoy the incredible bbq fresh out of the fire burning oven... listen to local music, sit on picnic tables and enjoy the ambiance.

BBQ!!! Yeah and lots of it. Just 1.9 miles from our home is the World Famous Salt Lick BBQ. Bring your ice chest with beer wine etc or stop in the the Wine Tasting Shack and sample some of Texas' best wine. Come hungry and allow two hours for this outing.
